About us
The Lower North Shore Multicultural Network is a voluntary network which identifies and addresses issues affecting people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in the Lower North Shore of Sydney. Membership is open to representatives of all tiers of governments, service providers and community groups working with and for people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in the Lower North Shore.
The Lower North Shore is made up of four Local Government Areas (LGA’s) north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge which includes North Sydney, Mosman, Willoughby, and Lane Cove.
Our mission
To promote and advocate for the principles of multiculturalism and social justice by enhancing the skills and abilities of the members and by sharing knowledge and expertise among members to partner on projects, address and improve the health and wellbeing of the CALD community and to facilitate their full participation in community life.
Key Demographics
According to the 2016 ABS Census, the area is home 111,588 people. In 2016, 46% who lived in the area were born overseas, while 27.5% came from countries where English was not their first language. More Demographic Data is provided in the section on Demographic Data.
